Mk.2 programming

The Arduino uses C, but what I really like about it is that the programming environment runs on Linux, Mac, and Windows. When you program in the Arduino environment, everything is done from one window…writing the code, compiling the code, and sending the code to the robot. I have found some environments to be very convoluted…write the code in one window, fire up another program to compile it, and then use a third program to send the code to the robot.

The Arduino makes it simple. So simple a programming dumb-ass like me can do it. Don’t get me wrong, the Arduino is not as simple as LEGO or PICAXE, but I really wanted to learn C and this is the best solution for me. I have been able to control motors, sensors, servos, etc. all on my own with almost zero help from other club members. The Arduino website and forum is full of examples of how to do things, and like I said before, the forum members are very friendly. Some microcontroller forums make you feel like an ass for not knowing some rudimentary electronics concept. The Arduino people are different…they will point you in the right direction to learn how to do simple stuff like blink an LED.
